Dazed and Confused

America, 1976. The last day of school. Bongs blaze, bell-bottoms ring, and rock and roll rocks. Among the best teen films ever made, Dazed and Confused eavesdrops on a group of seniors-to-be and incoming freshmen. A launching pad for a number of future stars, the first studio effort by Richard Linklater also features endlessly quotable dialogue and a blasting, stadium-ready soundtrack. Sidestepping nostalgia, Dazed and Confused is less about “the best years of our lives” than the boredom, angst, and excitement of teenagers waiting…for something to happen.

Tony Arzenta

release date: 25th March 2024

Alain Delon (Le Cercle Rouge) stars as efficient and ruthless mob assassin Tony Arzenta. With a young family, Tony wants to leave his life of crime to ensure his young son will not get caught up in the revenge killing that so often accompanies people in his position. But the bosses don’t make it easy and Tony finds himself on a bloody mission that takes him across Europe to eradicate his former employers. Delon delivers a haunted performance that is as stoic as the iconic assassin role he played for Jean-Pierre Melville in Le Samourai though firmly within the Italian crime film poliziottesco framework, Tony Arzenta delivers thrilling set-pieces and an emotional core that carries the narrative trajectory to the final nail-biting frame. This underseen crime classic from genre master Duccio Tessari (A Pistol for Ringo, Death Occurred Last Night) features an incredible supporting cast of poliziotteschi regulars including Richard Conte (The Boss), Umberto Orsini (Violent City), Corrado Gaipa (Illustrious Corpses), and many others. Now newly restored it is finally released in the UK for the first time.

The Blood On Satan’s Claw

release date: 25th March 2024

It’s rural England in the early 18th century. A deformed skull is discovered – it has an intact eye and strange fur but when that skull disappears the village, especially its children, becomes afflicted by its supernatural power. Starring Linda Hayden and Patrick Wymark, this quintessential folk horror produced by legendary British film company Tigon and directed by Piers Haggard, is a heady concoction of old-style horror and sex, served up in an unnervingly modern visual presentation. It explores and seems to unpick the dawning decade’s fears about promiscuity and the generation gap, poking fun at the moral majority’s lack of tolerance toward youth culture and non-Christian belief systems.
